9Health Fair Yoga Open at Colorado Convention Center to offer new activities and health screenings

Denver - April 11, 2014 - The Colorado Convention Center and 9Health Fair are proud to announce some very special activities and screenings that will be taking place at the 9Health Fair Yoga Open at Colorado Convention Center Sunday, May 4th from 7:00 am – 12 noon.  These are all offered in addition to the basic health screenings that 9Health Fair brings to all its fairs.

9Health Fair Yoga Open

You practice yoga. You look great. You feel great.  The Yoga Open will be a celebration of healthy, active lifestyles. Offering classes for every level of student, dozens of teachers will share the insight to have yoga as part of your life.

Four featured areas will include advanced instruction, all levels classes, beginner classes, and specialty classes.  There will also be classes on nutrition and mindfulness. There will be something for everyone.

9Health Fair and yoga studios in the community are joining together to help everyone enjoy a healthy, active lifestyle. This event will combine the fun, excitement and activity of a yoga festival with proactive and scientific health screenings to help you perform at your peak level in yoga and in life.

The Pink Life Saver (University of Colorado Hospital)

The Pink Life Saver, University of Colorado Hospital's "mobile mammography" coach, aims to bring the life-saving benefits of mammography to time-saving, convenient locations around the Denver area.  The Pink Life Saver is the only coach west of the Mississippi river to offer 3-D mammograms as the standard of care, resulting in fewer false positives and fewer unnecessary biopsies.

Mammograms will be available to women 40+ years old.  Participants will need to fill out the Patient Screening Form provided and bring their current insurance card and photo I.D.  Any co-pay will be collected at time of screening.  Participants do not need a prescription from their PCP.  Participants should bring all previous films on the day of their screening if they are available.

Uninsured women will be provided information on the Women’s Wellness Connection, Tri-County Health Services as well as the Komen and Avon Foundation.  These programs can provide funding and resources for woman without health insurance coverage. Or, uninsured women may be interested in the Women’s Mobile Clinic from Denver Health.  Please read about the Mobile clinic below.

Women’s Mobile Clinic (Denver Health)

The Women’s Mobile Clinic is one of Denver Health’s eight federally-qualified community health centers providing patient education and digital mammography.  Clinicians are fluent in English and Spanish and for most other languages, interpreter services are available.  Patient navigation and case management services are available to those women who need additional follow-up to their screenings.

Mammograms will be available to women 40+ years old.  Private insurance, Medicaid, Medicare, Denver County CICP and Denver County DFAP will be accepted.  If you are not currently enrolled in any of these insurance programs, Denver Health will have their Health Access Express Enrollment Van on site to assist you. Health Access Express Enrollment Van (Denver Health)

The Health Access Express Enrollment Van is a mobile unit that helps people enroll for Medicaid, CICP, DFAP, Medicare Savings, and the Denver Health Dental plan. Medicaid

Eligibility is based on income – from $0 up to approximately 133% of FPL
Must be U.S. citizen or Legal Permanent Resident (for at least 5 years)

If you wish to enroll, please bring:

Photo ID
Social Security card/number
Permanent Resident card (if applicable)
Birth Certificate (if you have it)
If working, must declare income (earned and/or received from SSI, SSDI, etc.) Bring most recent check stubs, amounting to one month of pay, or letter from employer stating hourly wage, hours worked, and total for month.

CICP

Must be a Denver County resident and either Legal Permanent Resident or U.S. Citizen

If you wish to enroll, please bring:

Photo ID
Social Security card/number
Birth Certificate (if you have it)
Permanent Resident card (if applicable)
Proof of address (This requirement can be fulfilled by a letter indicating that the person signing the letter has knowledge that the client is homeless)
If pregnant, bring statement with due date from doctor
If working, must declare income (earned and/or received from SSI, SSDI, etc.) Bring most recent check stubs, amounting to one month of pay, or letter from employer stating hourly wage, hours worked, and total for month.

DFAP

Must be a Denver County resident, not required to be U.S. Citizen or Legal Permanent Resident

If you wish to enroll, please bring:

Photo ID
Proof of address (This requirement can be fulfilled by a letter indicating that the person signing the letter has knowledge that the client is homeless)
If working, must declare income (earned and/or received from SSI, SSDI, etc.) Bring most recent check stubs, amounting to one month of pay, or letter from employer stating hourly wage, hours worked, and total for month.
If pregnant, bring statement with due date from doctor

Immunizations

The Denver Public Health Department will be offering TdaP (Tetanus, Diphtheria and Pertussis) Vaccines free to everyone.

Walgreens will be offering Pneumococcal (Pneumonia), Shingles and Hepatitis B Vaccines.  The Pneumococcal and Shingles Vaccines are covered by most insurance plans.  If your insurance includes “Full Preventative Health” coverage, then there is NO cost to you!  If you are uninsured or do not have preventative coverage, both of these vaccines will be available at a discounted rate.  The Hepatitis B Vaccine is not covered by most insurance plans.  However, Walgreens will be offering this vaccine at a discounted rate.  Credit card, cash and check will all be accepted.

Please bring your insurance cards and your previous immunization records with you, if available.

Colorado Athletic Club Fitness Area

The Colorado Athletic Club will be offering an interactive physical fitness area focused on teaching proper stretching technique and 15-minute fitness classes.  https://www.wellbridge.com/colorado-athletic-club

Humane Society of the South Platte Valley Mobile Adoption Unit
